Joe 'Blogs' in Malawi

Dunfermline High School DVD
The short movies below are part of a DVD made by pupils of Dunfermline High School in Fife, Scotland. They wanted to show you what their school is like and give you an idea of their life in Dunfermline and the surrounding area. Each movie is fairly small to make it easier to download, but it may still take a while however so please be patient.

Once Quicktime is installed, If you left click on a link you'll be able to watch the movie in your browser, but you can also right-click on a movie and select "Save…" to download a copy to your own computer. The Development Compass Rose
A simple easy to remember framework, which can provide a focus for work on issues. It can be used to help
explore issues in our own immediate locality, or in unfamiliar places in other parts of the world. This
framework helps us become aware of the range of issues that influence any given situation, and can be applied
to almost any situation.

Ranking
Ranking encourages small group discussion. As the group work together to agree on the placing
of statements in order, they are also making their own arguments for and against. Mixed ability
groups allow for an inclusive activity.

Using Photographs
Photographs are a useful tool for encouraging students to look at situations closely.
They can be used in many ways, for example, to challenge stereotypes or bias in reporting.
