Introducing Global Citizenship Guide
Welcome/How to use this resource
Welcome to the online version of “Introducing Global Citizenship: Essential guidance and resources for secondary schools”. This is a resource developed by teachers for teachers to introduce global citizenship and resources for use in the classroom.
There are two discrete parts. Part 1 is an Introduction to Global Citizenship which introduces the key elements of Global Citizenship, shares good practice from different schools, suggests innovative ways to approach Global Citizenship in schools and provides ideas for cross-curricular, whole school and subject specific approaches. This section includes a featured resource for each element, showing how this area can be tackled in the classroom of different subjects. This can be dipped into for ideas at any time.
Part 2 provides details of a mixture of online resources and books, covering fifteen different subjects. You can use the navigation pane to select your subject and browse through resources directly relevant to you.
Many of the resources suggested are online. To order any of the resources please follow the link to the online ordering system.
The teachers who designed this resource have also created a curriculum audit for the secondary school and two baseline studies to gauge the values and attitudes of teachers and students on issues of Global Citizenship.
There is also a two hour CPD course to introduce the issues raised in this resource to colleagues. For more details please contact Scotdec.
