I'd really like to hear other people's thoughts on exterprise projects between school partnerships. It's been suggested that my school sell items produced by our partner school to raise funds for the partnership. Do any other schools have experience of this? I'm a bit concerned about the knock on effects of this, and if it's a sustainable way of raising money.
thanks.

Jane, 46 views and not a reply!! For what it's worth, I've thought about this one. We have a link school in the tea growing area of Kenya. Some families grow small amounts of tea themselves for processing. We've considered importing it from them and packaging it here - maybe a Young Enterprise or technology project. This could raise awareness and/or funds for the partnership.

The principle I like: each side does their bit to encourage equity, the funds are for the whole partnership, not charitable giving which we feel is inappropriate. But the practice is difficult. So far we haven't found a way of transporting 50kg other than by air at prohibitive cost.

Hope the thoughts help.

Thanks for the reply!
Yes, I can see that working as a one off event, and its a nice activitiy to do in a partnership - and I think it would be a really good way to raise awareness of some of the issues involved (trade justice etc), but what are the long-term benefits?
I may be being very cynical here, but how sustainable is this as a source of income for those families/the school?
